Dress Coats

The earliest form of the word coat was seen as a type of chain-mail usually to the knee or at mid-calf length. Currently, when you hear the word coat, we don't think much of it, but, there are definitely many types of coats as there was in the past. Previously, coats were separated into undercoats and overcoats and since, have become the interchangeable word for jacket.
