Sometimes referred to as trapper cap or a bomber, Aviator caps are inspired by hats worn by the USA Air Force during WWII. They were originally designed for use in open air cockpits where lack of warmth could be a life threatening issue. Traditionally, these hats were leather with large earflaps and chinstraps. Today these cap are available in a number of different materials. Some are lined for warmth. Others have added compartments or snaps. Today these hats have become a fashion statement, commonly worn during the colder winter months.
