Available in an assortment of colors, styles, and materials, caps are used for multiple purposes. Dating back to the 14th century, dress caps were worn throughout Northern England and parts of Southern Italy. As Europeans started to immigrate to the Americas they carried their caps along for the journey. They quickly gained in popularity in the States. The working class universally wore flat caps by the 19th century and by the 1920s fashionable men everywhere were dressed in flat caps.
Today dress caps come in many shapes, such as flat caps, 8/4 caps, deeto caps and fisherman caps.
