The Cruz de Oro is a 30X fur cowboy hat from Milano Hats' Larry Mahan Hat Collection. With a cattleman crown and a 3 1/2" brim, this hat has a self matching hat band and a three piece gold and silver buckle set. The oversized buckle features a cross with rhinestones. Born November 21, 1943 in Salem, Oregon, Larry Mahan began competing in the professional rodeo circuit at the age of 14. He won the title of World All-Around Rodeo Champion five years in a row, 1966 to 1970, and again for the sixth time in 1973. After his comeback in 1973, competing with Phil Lyne, he became the subject of the documentary, “The Great American Cowboy” which won an Academy Award in 1973. In 1979 Mahan was inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.
After his rodeo career came to an end, he founded the Larry Mahan Collection line of western wear. In July 1984, Milano Hat Company entered into a licensing agreement with him for Larry Mahan's Hat Collection.
