Panhandle Slim was founded by two brothers, Ernest and Martin Hochster, who learned all that they knew about fashion while living in New York City in the 1030s. By the '40s, they were headed farther west and were designing and selling their own shirts. One of their popular styles, the “Gambler,” was made even more western with the addition of snaps, and the brothers began to grow their western interests and renamed their company Panhandle Slim. With the growing popularity of westerns and cowboy fashions, Panhandle Slim's business grew. Two more generations joined the ranks of the company and this private, family-run company expanded even more to include Rock & Roll Cowgirl and Cowboy for the younger, edgier cowboy scene that includes premium denim and modern designs. Appealing to not only the western crowd, but consumers from all walks of life, Panhandle Slim is proud to provide durable, high quality products year after year.
